The 96% Cut: Ruthless Stewardship for a 5-Hour Work Week

The 96% Cut: Ruthless Stewardship for a 5-Hour Work Week

    Apr 23, 20267 min

I was working 60+ hours a week, drowning in subscriptions I forgot about, tools I didn't use, and "shoulds" that drained me more than they served me. Then I did the audit. 96% of my overhead: gone. Not by earning more. By looking closer. In this episode, I break down the three-part framework that bought me back 30+ hours a week: 1. The Utility Test — If you haven't used it in 30 days, cancel it. (Yes, even "just in case.") 2. The ROI Check — Does this expense bring measurable value or genuine peace? If neither, cut it. 3. Season Awareness — Rest seasons require different overhead than growth seasons. Steward accordingly. I also share the specific cuts: $250 phone bill → $8. Unused software. "Automated" tools that created more work. The "small" subscriptions that totaled thousands annually. This isn't about restriction. It's about freedom. The 96% cut didn't shrink my business. It expanded my life. 🎯 Find your starting point: moneytalkwitht.com/start (https://moneytalkwitht.com/start) #stewardship #96percentcut #overheadaudit #fivehourworkweek #lifestylecreep #personalfinance #moneymanagement #cutexpenses #financialfreedom #ruthlessstewardship #worklifebalance #moneymindset #tello #subscriptionaudit

How to Create a Budget That Works for You | Ep. 3

    Aug 1, 201910 min

In this episode of Money Talk With Tiff, host Tiffany Grant dives deep into the world of budgeting. As one of her favorite financial topics, Tiffany shares why budgeting is crucial for achieving financial independence and freedom. She provides an in-depth look at her personal budgeting process, including how she categorizes expenses, plans ahead, and uses percentages to keep her finances in check. Tiffany also offers practical tips and advice for those just starting with their budgeting journey and discusses why having a budget can actually give you the freedom to spend. Key Takeaways The Importance of Budgeting:Budgeting is essential for tracking your income and expenses. A budget helps identify "leaks" in your finances where money might be wasted. Tiffany’s Budgeting Process:Plan your budget a month ahead. Organize expenses by priority, starting with essentials like housing and food. Use percentage guidelines to allocate spending across categories. Break down each expense category to get a detailed look at your spending habits. Detailed Budgeting Tips:Instead of lumping expenses together, itemize them (e.g., separate restaurant dining from grocery shopping). Include a "blow money" or "fun money" category to allow for flexible spending. Budgeting gives you permission to spend rather than feeling restrictive. Real-life Examples and Personal Stories:Tiffany shares a personal story about buying new shoes to illustrate how budgeting can help you make confident spending decisions. Getting Your Budget to Work:It may take around three months to create a functional budget. Once established, budgeting can become a fun and competitive game to optimize savings and expenses. Every Tuesday, Tiffany answers one of your submitted questions. To submit a question for an upcoming episode, visit here: https://www.moneytalkwitht.com/asktiffany. Key Takeaways The Necessity of Change The definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results. Tiffany emphasizes how crucial it is to recognize and change self-sabotaging financial habits. Get Comfortable with Being Uncomfortable Growth happens outside of your comfort zone. Tiffany shares personal anecdotes and motivational insights to encourage listeners to embrace discomfort for the sake of progress. Tips for Financial Change Savings Challenge: Join the free savings challenge (https://academy.moneytalkwitht.com/pl/2147553195) with Copper Vibrations. Save amounts ranging from $1 to $100 in a dedicated envelope or account. Track Your Money: Start tracking daily expenses (https://ynab.com/referral/?ref=Z-Wch-4Tf4DxQZDf) to become more aware of spending habits. This awareness naturally leads to saving. Budgeting: Create and stick to a budget (https://moneytalkwitht.com/blog/budgeting-basics/). It’s not about restriction; it's about finding financial freedom and clarity. Whether you call it a budget, money management tool, or cash flow statement, the goal is the same. Foolproof Your Finances Implement strategies to safeguard your savings, such as using online savings accounts that are harder to access or physically removing credit cards from easy reach. Mindset Matters Positive self-talk is essential. Believing that you can save, make more money, or achieve financial goals is half the battle won. Community Awareness Tiffany addresses the spending habits within communities and highlights the importance of collective awareness and responsibility for financial growth. Throughout this engaging episode, Tiffany calls listeners to action, encouraging them to take control of their financial destiny through intentional, consistent changes. She asserts the power of knowing oneself and leveraging that understanding to create a healthier financial future. Personal Stories and Examples Justin shares personal experiences, including his support for a school in Kenya that helps refugee girls, illustrating how properly managed finances can make a significant impact. From Scarcity to Stewardship: How I Cut 96% of My Expenses in Jamaica

From Scarcity to Stewardship: How I Cut 96% of My Expenses in Jamaica

    Apr 9, 202611 min

I moved to Jamaica thinking I'd escaped the high cost of living. Then I looked at my phone bill: $200+/month for AT&T roaming. That wasn't serving me. That wasn't serving my family. That was noise. So I cut it. 96% reduction. $200 down to $20. Same service, different provider. That's when I realized: I don't have a money problem. I have a stewardship problem. Most people think they need $1,000 more to be "fine." But if you can't manage $100, you won't manage $10,000. Scarcity focuses on what's missing. Stewardship asks: "How well am I managing what's in my hands?" In this episode, I break down the three-step shift: 1. The Audit — Stop looking at what's missing. What do you have right now? A skill? An hour? $20? 2. Assign a Job — Every dollar needs a mission. Every hour needs a purpose. 3. The Release Rule — Cut what isn't serving the mission. (My 96% cut wasn't just the phone bill.) I also share the Parable of the Talents—why the person who buried their money lost it, and why the people who made it work got more. This isn't about restriction. It's about wisdom. 🎯 Ready to shift?
